Does my EV and hybrid car need servicing as much as my petrol or diesel car?

Electric and hybrid vehicles still need regular servicing, but often not as frequently or extensively as petrol or diesel cars. That’s because EVs have fewer moving parts, there’s no engine oil, exhaust system, or clutch to maintain.

However, items like tyres, brakes, suspension, and cabin filters still need attention, and software updates or battery health checks are just as important. Regular servicing also helps keep your warranty valid and your car running efficiently.

At Barrett-Lee, we’re fully equipped to service and maintain hybrid and electric vehicles to manufacturer standards.

Whats checked during my service?

Whether you’re driving a Renault Zoe or an Audi Q8 e-tron, Barrett-Lee can help.
With EVs powered by electric motors rather than petrol or diesel engines, there are fewer service parts to replace during routine maintenance.

The battery is the heart of your electric vehicle, and it’s important to have it checked regularly during servicing. We also inspect key components such as charging cables, the battery cooling system, braking system (including fluid, discs, and pads), tyres, and pollen filters.

We currently see many electric vehicles on lease contracts, typically one to three-year company cars. Our ability to reset service indicators and update online service records makes Barrett-Lee an excellent alternative to the main dealer.
