Vehicle Services

We believe Barrett-Lee has acquired the position of a true market leader in East Anglia - staying one step ahead of our competitors. Using the most advanced technology available from our modern service centre allows us to service and maintain all vehicles.

We also have the facilities to service and maintain all light commercial and LWB vehicles up to five tonnes. All our technicians are fully trained and encouraged to gain as many qualifications as possible.

Because so many components in modern cars are from Bosch we also use Bosch KT diagnostic tools, which are particularly good for analysing both common and difficult faults.

Air Conditioning

An inefficient air conditioning system will need to work harder to keep you cool. Components will be overworked and wasting fuel. It may only require a simple recharge but you should have problems investigated - we are happy to check.

Cam Belts

The cam belt quietly keeps many of the mechanical parts of your engine synchronized.

A belt failure can be catastrophic and prove very expensive to repair. Manufacturer’s give recommended replacement intervals. If in doubt call us and we can check if a new belt is required.

Brakes & Clutches

Efficient brakes are vital to road safety. Any foot pedal sponginess, unusual grating noise or too much or too little bite should be investigated - we are happy to check.

If your car has manual transmission the clutch will generally give very reliable service. Some clutches may last for hundreds of thousands of miles but eventually they all wear out. The first signs of this are normally either the clutch slipping or juddering when pulling away.

To avoid the inconvenience of a breakdown we are always happy to check your vehicle for you.

Tyres, Exhausts & Batteries

No matter what sort of tyre you want we can supply it. Whether you have a preferred brand name or require modern ‘run flat’ tyres. You may want an economy tyre to fit a strict budget. Whatever you need, just contact us for a great quote.

TYRES & FUEL CONSUMPTION

On average, 20% of a car’s fuel consumption (or one tank in five) is consumed by ‘rolling resistance’. That’s right, tyres are responsible for 20% of a car’s fuel consumption.

You only need to feel how hot tyres get on a fast trip to prove this. Low rolling resistance tyres can mitigate much of this loss especially when an economical style of driving is practised:

Drive at a constant speed, avoiding rapid stops and starts. Anticipate events and other road users actions to maintain a constant speed as much as possible

Change gears between 2,000 to 2,500 RPM in order to keep optimal engine speeds

Check your tyre pressures regularly as under-inflated tyres increase fuel consumption. Don’t over inflate tyres to lower resistance as they will wear unevenly and skid easily in poor conditions

Batteries

Barrett-Lee can offer the right battery for your vehicle at some of the best battery prices around. Please contact us for the right battery at the right price.

Exhaust Systems & Catalytic Convertors

At Barrett-Lee we supply and fit almost every type of exhaust system. We will always advise you if only a specific section is needed to perform a satisfactory repair.

This is especially important where catalytic converters are concerned as the platinum content makes them very expensive to manufacture.

Get in touch if you need advice regarding replacing or repairing your exhaust system or catalytic convertor.

Oil, Lubricant & Filters

Ensuring you have the correct amount and type of lubricants in your vehicle is essential to ensure optimum performance and avoid unnecessary damage.

Here at Barrett-Lee we can carry out all the necessary checks to ensure you are using the best options for your vehicle and provide you with advice or any changes which may be needed.

We can also check all filters to ensure they are in full working order. We recommend you have these checks at least every six months.

Belts & Hoses

Checking belts, radiator and heater hoses at specific intervals is highly recommended as they can helps prevent your car from breaking down. Losing a belt today can mean big trouble for the engine and in worst case scenarios can cause costly damage. It is not always possible to see the true condition of a belt or hose from its outward appearance because more often than not they fail from the inside out.

Belts can break down from heat, usage and age and hoses can become brittle and split when exposed to the elements. Here at Barrett-Lee we can check all belts and hoses to ensure they are in full working order and advise as and when they need replacing.
